Academic Background
Admission into the toxicology program requires the successful
completion of courses in advanced biology and/or chemistry or their
equivalents. Applicants who cannot demonstrate sufficient knowledge in
these areas may be required to take additional courses. The toxicology
program requires a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4-point scale
for the last 60 hours of undergraduate credits or 30 hours of graduate
credits. Grades earned during the applicant's entire college career are
considered.
GRE
The toxicology program requires a minimum General Record Exam score of
1000 on the verbal and quantitative sections. Specific subject tests are
not required. Test scores should be from a test date within five years of
the date the application form reaches the Office of Admissions. To allow
sufficient time to receive exam scores, applicants should take the GRE by
January to apply for Fall admission and June for Spring admission.
Test of English as a Foreign Language
The TOEFL score from within the last two years is required from
applicants whose native language is not English, with the exception of
those applicants completing all four years of a baccalaureate degree in
the United States or achieving a 400 Verbal GRE. A TOEFL score of 550 or
higher is required for admission.
Recommendation Letters
Three recommendation letters are required. Recommendations by research
advisor(s) or professors are preferred.
Interviews and Campus Visits
Applicants may request an informational interview with faculty.
Personal interviews are not required and are viewed as an opportunity for
the applicant to become better acquainted with the toxicology program.
Itineraries to meet faculty members and current graduate students can be
arranged. Contact the Faculty of Toxicology for information.
Deadlines
Rolling admission begins March 1 and ends June 30 for the Fall
semester and August 1 through November 30 for the Spring semester.
Students are notified by mail. Applicants are encouraged to maintain
contact with the toxicology office to ensure that the Faculty of
Toxicology received all admission documents.
